Hinged Rail

If a stairlift rail crosses a doorway, we can install a hinged section so the end of the rail folds back and out of the way when the stairlift is not in use. The diagram above illustrates how this works.
Folding Platform

These assistive devices fold down when in use and fold up when not in use.
On some wide staircases and those with “fan” steps, there may be a gap between the stairlift footrest and the landing.
To bridge this gap, we can install a hinged platform which can be safely walked on then folded back against the wall when the stairlift is not in use. The diagram above illustrates how this works.
